About Me
PhD Student in Earth & Planetary Sciences
I'm a Puerto Rican scientist interested in studying exoplanets, which are planets around other stars. In my journey to study astronomy, I landed in Maryland where I have pursued all of my higher education. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in astronomy and a minor in planetary science from University of Maryland, College Park, and I am currently pursuing my PhD at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences. Outside of science, I enjoy knitting, doing yoga, and relaxing with a nice scented candle and music. I also play the trombone and enjoy hiking.
Life offers you a thousand chances... all you have to do is take one. ~Frances Mayes, Under the Tuscan Sun

I am a fourth year graduate student at Johns Hopkins University working with Prof. Laura Schaefer on [exo]planetary interior modeling. During my undergraduate studies, I did a variety of interships including NASA GSFC, Harvard University, Carnegie Institution for Science, among others. Before starting my PhD, I did a post-bac at NASA GSFC.
Through my education, I have had the opportunity to present my research at many conferences. To date, I have presented 19 professional talks, 15 invited talks and 14 poster presentations at national and international conferences. I currently have one first-author paper in prep and six co-author papers published.
I have done a variety of outreach talks in both English and Spanish about my personal academic journey as well as current science missions. I have participated in live interviews for NASA and am the current social media lead for the Women+ of Color Project, an organization dedicated to increasing the number of women+ of color in STEM.
